Yesterday, Andy and I went in search of Black-backed Woodpeckers. Instead, we got to see Canada Jays, and 4 different species of butterflies. The above is a Sara Orangetip. We arrived around 8am. Despite being early, it was already getting warm. We birded the area for two hours. It is an interesting spot at the end of winding forest roads. Great view of Mount Rainier. Might be interesting spot to camp for a night some time. Very remote.
