What an amazing day of birding in Patagonia! Andy and I joined a private tour where we spent 9ish hours with our guide Jake. He was a great guide and I was often bewildered on all that he was picking up around us that I wasn't hearing. It was difficult to keep up, but that made it all the more exciting.
At the end of the day, I accumulated 27 new life birds. The only way I would have been happier was if we had seen an Elegant Trogon or a Montazuma Quail. We have one more day with this company split between a half day in the morning and an evening of owling. Still a lot of opportunities to rack up some more birds.
Arizona is very different than the places I bird in Washington, at least where we went today. It was essentially backcountry roads which our guide knew well. It was clear I never would have been able to find most of the spots without his help.
