Another productive day lead by Jake. Andy and I likely added 20 or so more life birds to our lists. I will update with the final count later. Right now, we are merely in intermission between the morning birding and the owling this evening. We left the hotel this morning at 4am, got back here by 2, and plan to be on the road again by 5.
I really have appreciated how Jake has helped me accumulate so many birds so quickly. In addition, I feel like I am learning a lot from him. On the downside, I feel like I am getting lazy on these outings by defering to him unless it is a bird I am very familiar with. I find myself asking, "what is that?" instead of focusing the field marks and making an attempt myself. In the remaining 2 days of the trip, I need to challenge myself a little more.
